Heat and humidity,
Sweat on my skin,
In a glass house
At the famous Horniman Gardens.
So many wings,
And colours,
Flitting through the damp air
Onto sweet flowers,
And feeding on ripening fruit.
Landing like soft feathers
On the visitors, old and young,
To taste the salt on their skin.
And the humans: what do they feel?
The gift of a butterfly kiss.
Thank you to Horniman Museum and Gardens for creating such a special place.
